About Norm

Norman R. Brandenstein is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, who received his MA in Pastoral Care and Counseling at Christian Theological Seminary.   A seasoned therapist, he has served over 18 years across multiple well known organizations including Midtown Mental Health Center and Meridian Psychological Associates, etc.  Brandenstein has been in private practice with Indianapolis Counseling Associates for more than nine years.

With intentions for effecting change through thought and behavior modification, Brandenstein’s clinical and community service intention is to create safe spaces for healthy growth.  In practice, he serves individual and partnered adult clients with traditional mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, life changes, grief, primary relationships, men/women issues, etc.   Norman has also brought specific focus to support of those in the GLBTQ+ community, as well as individuals with HIV+/AIDS.

Norman is a member of the Indiana Counseling Association and World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). He has engaged in support of Mental Health America of Greater Indianapolis, the Indiana Youth Group, National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) – Indiana, Midwest Aids Training & Education Center, the Damien Center, Concord Neighborhood Center and the Mankind Project. He currently is a member and previously served as the President of the Board of Directors of Prime Timers Indianapolis, a social organization for mature gay and bisexual men, and is a member of the Community Advisory Board for the IUPUI University Library. Brandenstein is a member of the Rainbow Chamber of Commerce, a founding member of the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus, and maintains membership at the Episcopal Church of All Saints, Indianapolis, where he served as the Chair of the Arts At All Saints Committee.
